Just two of the top six seeds remain at the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) World Darts Championship after Nathan Aspinall was knocked out by Vincent van der Voort.

The Dutchman won the opening six games against Aspinall to take a 2-0 lead, and although the Englishman fought back, Van der Voort sealed a 4-2 triumph.

Through to round four, Van der Voort is now just one win away from matching his best-ever showing at the PDC's marquee event.

Compatriot Dirk van Duijvenbode, who has been among the most impressive performers at the tournament so far, is also through to the last 16.

A three-dart average of 104.09 saw Van Duijvenbode blow England's Adam Hunt away 4-0.

Van Duijvenbode beat another Englishman - former world champion Rob Cross - in the previous round.

England's Mervyn King is through to the fourth round too, after whitewashing Grand Slam of Darts champion José de Sousa.

Despite averaging 103.62 - the sixth-best average of the World Championship so far - the Portuguese player could not win a set.

Meanwhile, a dramatic evening session saw 20 sets contested with two of the three matches going the distance.

The first match of the night saw Scotland's Gary Anderson defeat Serbia's Mensur Suljović 4-3.

Two-time world champion Anderson was frustrated with his opponent's slow play when he was trailing in the contest and was also irritated with his own performance which included missing 33 darts at doubles.

Suljović won six straight legs to take a 3-2 lead before Anderson went on his own hot streak as he claimed six straight legs to win 4-3 and reach the fourth round.

The evening's next match also went all the way as Wales' Gerwyn Price defeated Brendan Dolan of Northern Ireland by the same scoreline in a contest that went all the way to a deciding leg in set seven.

A high-quality encounter saw Price fire in nine 180s and land a 170 checkout but despite missing a match dart in set six the world number three recovered to prevail 4-3.

The final match of the night saw England's Glen Durrant get off to a flying start as he took a 3-0 lead over his American opponent Danny Baggish.

Baggish won the next two sets to reduce the deficit before Durrant claimed the sixth set in a deciding leg to advance 4-2.

Round three concludes at Alexandra Palace in London tomorrow, with round four beginning during the evening session.
