Special Olympics Great Britain (GB) has appointed Pete Rhodes as business development and commercial consultant and Ben Miller as a brand development consultant.

Rhodes has extensive background in event and sport management and is the owner of All for Good, a consultancy which specialises in delivering sport sponsorship and event programmes with a cause.

He will focus on Special Olympics GB’s commercial development, alongside the creation and implementation of fundraising and events strategies.

"I am absolutely delighted to be joining the team at Special Olympics GB," said Rhodes.

"I have a real commitment to driving change through sport and working with partners who share the belief that sport and wellbeing should be at the heart of purpose driven engagement by business.

"I defy anyone not to be inspired by the work of Special Olympics GB, the athletes and the volunteers and look forward to working with everyone and supporting businesses who wish to come on this exciting, inclusive journey."

Miller joins Special Olympics GB on a pro-bono basis and will aim to strengthen the organisation's external brand and driving awareness.

He is a founding member of Common Goal, the football social impact movement with more than 160 members and will use his experience in the sports industry to help develop and implement a brand development strategy.

"I'm looking forward to helping Michelle {Special Olympics GB chief executive}, one of few female leaders in the sports industry, and her team, continue to drive the development of Special Olympics GB," Miller said.

"The organisation has ambitious plans and deserves to be celebrated and supported by all individuals and businesses in Britain who stand for inclusion and equality.

"There are 1.5 million people in the UK with intellectual disabilities and I find the work of Special Olympics GB, and the amazing stories of their athletes, incredibly inspiring."

Special Olympics GB is a non-profit organisation which provides coaching and competitions in summer and winter sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

"We are absolutely delighted to welcome Pete and Ben to Special Olympics GB," said Special Olympics GB chief executive Michelle Carney.

"Both Pete and Ben bring excellent and proven skill sets to our organisation along with a wealth of experience in delivering social change through sports and events programmes.

"I am looking forward to working with them both as we move towards achieving our ambitious plans for the future.

"Their appointments further demonstrate our commitment to build and strengthen Special Olympics GB, as we continue to transform and grow our movement across Britain."
