China reached the boys' team final of the ITTF World Junior Championships ©ITTF

China and Chinese Taipei will battle it out in the boys' team final of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Junior Championships in Korat.

The Chinese team, defending the title they claimed in the Australian city of Bendigo last year, just got past Japan 3-2 in the semi-final. 

Japan took the first point at the Terminal 21, with Yukiya Uda overcoming Xiang Peng 11-8, 11-6, 5-11, 11-7.

Xu Yingbin then made it 1-1, defeating Shunsuke Togami 6-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-7.

Kakeru Sone regained Japan's lead with a 11-7, 14-12, 9-11, 11-8 victory, but Xu brought things level after beating Uda 8-11, 11-5, 11-9, 7-11, 13-11. 

In the deciding game, Xiang edged past Togami 13-11, 13-11, 9-11, 9-11, 11-9. 

Chinese Taipei progressed to the final with a straightforward 3-0 win over France, with Tai Ming-Wei triumphing 11-9, 9-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-7 in the opening game against Vincent Picard. 

Feng Yi-Hsin then defeated Lilian Bardet 11-9, 7-11, 12-10, 11-8, before Huang Yan-Cheng narrowly beat 6-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-8, 11-9.

The gold-medal match is scheduled for tomorrow.
