Omar Al-Fadhli was among the gold medallists on the penultimate day of the Ju-Jitsu International Federation World Championships in Dubai.

The United Arab Emirates athlete clinched gold in the men's under-62 kilogram event at the Mubadala Arena.

Al-Fadhli saw off the challenge of Kazakhstan's Darkhan Nortayev in the gold-medal match to the delight of the home crowd.

The division saw Russia's Giorgi Razmadze and Kazakhstan's Nariman Mynbayev win bronze medals.

There was further home success, with Zayed Al Katheeri triumphing in the under-56kg men's competition.

He battled to victory against Saudi Arabia's Faris Kashmeeri in the final.

The podium places were completed by Atakeldi Yessetov and Amir Malgahzdar, who both represent Kazakhstan.

The Championships conclude tomorrow.
