Danielle McEwan won an all-American singles final to claim the World Bowling Women's Championships title in Las Vegas.

World number one McEwan was the pre-tournament favourite and dominated American team mate Shannon O'Keefe at South Point Bowling Plaza.

McEwan started the match with a five-bagger and never looked back as she sealed the world title with a 259-193 victory.

"Our goal was to be bowling each other because that is a guarantee one of us gets the gold medal," said McEwan.

"It was very comfortable being in the match together, and very emotional on the stand.

"Shannon has been my hero on Team USA, so having her hold my hand during the anthem was very emotional."

O'Keefe reached the final with a last four 213-183 win against Sweden's Sandra Andersson, with McEwan ousting South Korean Lee Na-young 256-173.

Lee and Andersson both received bronze medals.
