Colombia's Maria Rodriguez won the all-events gold medal on day four of the World Bowling Women's Championship in Las Vegas.

The title goes to the bowler who accumulates the highest combined score from the singles, doubles, trios and team qualification rounds.

Rodriguez ended on a total of 5,488 after 24 games in total, scoring 1,368 in the singles, 1,377 in the doubles and 1,389 in the trios.

She ended with 1,354 in today's team qualification which was topped by hosts United States at the South Point Bowling Plaza.

"I don't know what to say," said Rodriguez, who has semi-finals to look forward to in both the doubles and trios competitions.

"It is just surreal, it feels great.

"It has been a long week."

Joline Persson Planefors of Sweden won the silver medal with 5,425 points as American Shannon O'Keefe took bronze on 5,422.

O'Keefe was a member of the American team which won today's team qualification round.

She was joined by Stefanie Johnson, Jordan Richard, Liz Kuhlkin, Danielle McEwan and Missy Parkin as the hosts scored 6,750.

This matched the World Bowling Women's Championship all-time six game record.

"We played great today and stayed in the moment," said O'Keefe.

"I don't think anyone ever looked at the scores, we just stayed focused on us.

"We had no idea about the record, that's pretty awesome."

Mexico, Sweden and Colombia completed the top four with scores of 6,371, 6,353 and 6,341 respectively.

It means Friday's (August 30) semi-finals will pit the Americans against the Colombians with Mexico taking on Sweden.

The final will follow later in the day.

Tomorrow sees the start of the masters competition which features the top 24 from the all-events rankings competing in head-to-head matches.

The field will be whittled down to the four semi-finalists.
