Egypt's Raneem El Welily successfully defended her El Gouna International Squash Open title after triumphing in the women's final.

The world number one and top seed defeated fellow Egyptian Nouran Gohar at the Professional Squash Association Platinum event. 

She triumphed 11-8, 7-11, 12-10, 11-6 in 61 minutes at CI Capital Glass Court Arena. 

“I definitely love being here, the crowd has been amazing, knowing that we have a full house is incredible," El Welily said.

In the men's competition, Egypt's world number one Ali Farag claimed his first El Gouna title with an 11-9, 12-10, 11-3 victory over compatriot Karim Abdel Gawad.

He had finished runner-up in the 2018 competition. 

The winners received a prize of $165,000 (£127,694/£147,980) each.

The next PSA Platinum event will be the British Open from May 20 to 26.
