Home favourite Jeremy Henry is set to go in search of a seventh men's Bowls World Cup title with the 2019 edition scheduled to begin in Barrack Heights in Australia tomorrow.

As reported by the Illawarra Mercury, the event will feature bowlers from 24 nations competing at the Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club.

Henry - the champion in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018 - and club-mate Aaron Teys will become the first Warilla pair to represent Australia at the same World Cup.

Five-time champion Jo Edwards of New Zealand is considered the one to beat in the women's draw.

Among her likely challengers is quadruple Commonwealth Games medallist Colleen Piketh of South Africa, defending champion Lucy Beere of Guernsey and Malaysian star Siti Zalina Ahmad.

Last year’s women’s final saw Beere defeat triple world champion and double Commonwealth Games gold medallist Rebecca Van Asch, who will be hoping to go one better at her home event.

Competition is due to run through to March 13.
