World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue has given a letter of appreciation to World Taekwondo Europe (WTE) counterpart Sakis Pragalos in recognition of the successful organisation and completion of the 2019 World Para-Taekwondo Championships in Antalya.
Choue was present at the eighth edition of the event, which took place on February 5 and 6, as well as at the WTE Extraordinary Council meeting in the Turkish city.
The South Korean expressed his gratitude for being able to attend both.
He concluded by conveying his recognition towards WTE for its effective promotion and development of the sport and for inspiring a stronger taekwondo family throughout the continents.
Among the winners at the World Para-Taekwondo Championships was Mexico’s Juan Diego García López, who secured his country’s first-ever global crown in the sport.
López beat Russia’s Magomedzagir Isaldibirov 8-4 in the men’s under-75 kilograms K44 final at the Antalya Arena.
Also claiming an inaugural Para-taekwondo gold medal for her country on the world stage was Brazil's Débora Menezes, who defeated Uzbekistan's Guljonoy Naimova 7-3 in the women's over-58kg K44 final.
Taekwondo is due to make its Paralympic debut at Tokyo 2020.
