Top seed Akane Yamaguchi beat Japanese team-mate Nozomi Okuhara to reach the women's singles final of the Badminton World Federation German Open in Mülheim today.

She will face Chen Yufei in the final tomorrow at the Innogy Sporthalle after the Chinese player battled past Nitchaeon Jindapol of Thailand in three sets. 

Yamaguchi required just 37 minutes to defeat her third-seeded opponent in this  this HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament. 

She won a tight first set 23-21 before powering through the second 21-12.

Chen had a far tougher time against sixth seeded Jindapol.

She won the first set 21-19 before losing the second 13-21.

The tables were turned again in the final set, however, as Chen fought to a 21-14 success.

Chinese Taipei's fourth seed Chou Tien Chen ended the run of Japanese giant killer Kenta Nishimoto in the semi-finals of the men's singles draw.

Chou recovered from a second set slip to triumph 21-11, 14-21, 21-13.

Nishimoto, the world number 20, had beaten top seed Son Wan-ho of South Korea in round one.

Angus Long Ng Ka of Hong Kong beat China's third seed Shi Yuqi 21-18, 18-21, 21-17 in the second last-four clash.
