Japan's Kenta Nishimoto continued his dream tournament by defeating another seed to reach the semi-finals of the Badminton World Federation German Open in Mülheim today.

Nishimoto, the world number 20, beat top seed Son Wan-ho of South Korean in round one at the Innogy Sporthalle and has since maintained his form in this HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament.

He strolled through the first set today against Indonesia's eighth seed Jonatan Christie before being asked sterner questions in the second round today in the quarter-finals.

Nishimoto eventually won 21-10, 22-20 in 47 minutes.

He is next due to face fourth seed Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei for a place in the final.

Chou battled past Japan's Kento Momota 21-15, 14-21, 21-10 in a gruelling 65-minute encounter today.

There were mixed fortunes for Chinese Taipei today, however, after disappointment in the women's singles draw.

Chinese fourth seed Chen Yufei proved far too strong for Chiang Mei Hui in a 21-13, 21-16 victory.

There was also a shock result today in the women's doubles as top seeds Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan were knocked-out at the quarter-final stage.

The Chinese pair were defeated 21-19, 21-13 by South Korean seventh seeds Kim Hye-rin and Chang Ye-na.

All the finals are scheduled to take place on Sunday (February 11).
