Finland thrashed Poland today as action started at the European qualification group one event for the 2018 Men’s World Floorball Championships. 

The reigning world champions triumphed 13-1 at the Kalev Sports Hall in Estonia’s capital in Tallinn.

Eemeli Salin and Joonas Pylsy both scored twice, while Matias Veikkola, Valtteri Kainulainen, Sami Johansson, Nico Salo, Heikki Iiskola, Otto Lehkosuo,  Aaro Astala, Jami Manninen and Jere Oksanen all chipped in with one goal apiece.

The two other matches held today in Tallinn saw Belgium draw 5-5 with The Netherlands and hosts Estonia beat Liechtenstein 13-2.

Competition also begun today at two of the other European qualification events taking place at the Arena Klokocina in Nitra in Slovakia.

In group two, 2016 world silver medallists Sweden thrashed France 43-1.

Hosts Slovakia, meanwhile, overcame Slovenia 7-2.

The first day of group four action saw Denmark beat Austria 6-3 and Spain defeat Great Britain 11-1.

Additionally, competition continued today in group three at the Vidzemes Olimpiskais Centrs in Valmiera in Latvia.

Switzerland, the 2016 world bronze medallists, made it two wins out of two with a 22-3 success over Iceland.

Hosts Latvia also maintained their 100 per cent record thanks to an 11-1 victory over Italy.

Russia are a point behind the two frontrunners in third place after drawing 8-8 with Hungary.

Action in all four European qualification groups is due to continue tomorrow. 

The World Championships are scheduled to take place in the Czech capital Prague from December 1 to 9.

An Americas qualifier featuring just Canada and the United States is set to be held in Toronto on February 10 and 11.
