Australia became the first team to qualify for the Men's Floorball World Championships today after sealing the top spot in their group at the Asia-Oceania Qualifying Tournament.

They beat Thailand 4-3 at the Hanrim Sports Complex on Jeju Island in South Korea.

Kade Ebeling, Tomas Gartner, Jonathon Veron and Daniel Gartner all scored as Australia took a 3-0 and then a 4-1 lead.

Pawat Thaidit scored the first Thailand goal before further consolation efforts from Veerasak Pimpa and Santipong Sukkasem.

New Zealand and Malaysia drew 5-5 in the other game today in Group B.

Group stage action is due to continue tomorrow with a final day of matches.

Both group winners advance automatically to the final while also booking a place at the World Championships in Prague.

The second place team in each group will face a semi-final tie against the third place finisher from the other group.

The winner of the semi-final matches will advance to a third-place play-off, with both nations also sealing the final two qualification spots available for Prague.

The World Championships are due to take place in the Czech capital from December 1 to 9.
