FIFA has moved tomorrow's Under-17 World Cup semi-final between Brazil and England from Guwahati to Kolkata.

The decision to move the game across India was made due to poor pitch conditions at Guwahati's Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium.

"Severe" rainfall has fallen at the ground and the surface was deemed unplayable after a "thorough" assessment.

Kolkata's Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium will now host the crucial last four clash tomorrow with kick-off at 5pm local time.

Fans with tickets for Guwahati have been given priority for the Kolkata game or can request a refund.

"FIFA and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) regret that unforeseen circumstances have led to this decision, which will deprive football fans in Guwahati of this semi-final encounter," a FIFA statement said.

"Both FIFA and the LOC would like to sincerely thank the city of Guwahati and the State Government of Assam for their excellent cooperation throughout the competition.

"Despite the great efforts by all involved parties, including the authorities of Guwahati, to preserve the pitch, FIFA has taken this decision following consultations with both teams in order to safeguard the players’ health and to ensure the best playing conditions."

Kolkata is about a one hour flight west from Guwahati.

The other semi-final between Spain and Mali will be held as planned tomorrow, at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
