Ireland have won the overall title at the 2017 European Bowls Team Championships in Jersey.

The squad of Mark Wilson, Andrew Kyle, Megan Wilson and Catherine Beattie topped the standings after six days of play at the Les Creux Bowls Club on the Channel Island.

They amassed 69 points from their 21 matches.

Ireland finished on a shots difference of 174 and won 176.5 ends throughout the tournament.

Guernsey won their second consecutive silver medal after finishing as runners-up on 64 points.

The team of Matt Solway, Matt Le Ber, Jackie Nicolle and Lucy Beere posted a shots difference of 146 and claimed a total of 176 ends.

Scotland, who led in the early stages of the championships, eventually finished in third on 62 points.

A shots difference of 157 was critical in Greg McLachin, Jason Banks, Emma McIntyre and Natalie Docherty claiming bronze as Wales also completed the competition on 62 points.

The Welsh team's shots difference would ultimately cost them though as their 146 was inferior to the Scots'.

Defending champions England endured a miserable title defence.

The winners of the last two overall titles could only manage a fifth place finish on 61 points.
