Ireland have moved into the lead at the European Bowls Team Championships after the fourth day of play in Jersey.

Scotland led the standings overnight at the Les Creux Bowls Club on the Channel Island but were knocked off of the top by their Irish rivals today.

Ireland occupy top spot on 53 points from their 16 matches so far.

They also boast a shots difference of 120 and have won 132.5 ends.

Guernsey, hoping to improve on the silver medal they won two years ago, retained second place on 49 points.

Guernsey have won 126 ends and have a shots difference of 114.

Scotland have dropped down to third after a poor day.

After playing 16 matches, the Scots find themselves on 46 points, seven off the lead.

They also have a shots difference of 123 and have won 131 ends.

Reigning champions England are currently out of the medal positions in fourth.

From 15 matches, the English squad have got 45 points and a shots difference of 154, far superior to any other team in the competition.
