LimbPower has launched a month-long social media campaign called "Active August" which they hope will encourage and engage amputees to become more active.

The National Disability Sports Organisation have partnered on the project with mobility community Axis, founded by prosthetic limb manufacturers Ottobock.

It is hoped the month will raise awareness of the physical and mental health benefits of engaging in physical activity, with a focus on moving more at home, in the office and at school.

Participants are encouraged to share and promote their activity through the Ottobock Fitness App and use LimbPower's exercise videos.

As part of the Active August project, Limbpower said they will promote a daily morning work-out using the fitness app.

There will be a choice between strength and endurance, condition and balance and stretch and relax exercises.

Limbpower said participants can do as much or as little as they wish, with the first 50 people to sign-up receiving an Active August t-shirt.

A social media and fundraising campaign called #WhatsYourActivity will run alongside the Active August initiative.

It has been designed for those who are already active and want to challenge themselves to do more, or achieve a new goal.

Limbpower are also encouraging participants to share their stories with other amputees on social media.

They are hopeful participants will create fundraising pages to help raise money for Limbpower.

The organisation would then continue to support and encourage individuals with limb difference through the provision of participation events, workshops and resources.
