Latvian duo Aleksandrs Samoilovs and Janis Smedins recorded their second victory of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Beach Volleyball World Championships as they beat Markus Bockermann and Lars Fluggen of Germany in Vienna today.

The second seeds were in confident form as they claimed a 21-19, 21-15 win over the German pair in Pool B of the men's competition at the Red Bull Beach Arena on Danube Island.

"The goal is to play each match like the last one, we are only focused on the next match," said Smedins.

"We are not looking at any other matches, we are just preparing for this one, that is all.

"We played a little bit better with the service today, and they didn’t move their legs as good.

Jefferson Santos Pereira and Cherif Younousse of Qatar, the 23rd seeds, also secured their second success of the tournament in Pool B as they overcame Carlos Rangel and Jonathan Golindano of Venezuela.

It went to three sets but the Qataris triumphed 21-18, 22-24, 15-10.
