Larissa França Maestrini and Talita Da Rocha Antunes advanced to the women’s final at the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Olsztyn Open in Poland.

The Brazilian pairing proved in inspired form during today’s action, as they triumphed in straight sets in both their quarter and semi-final matches.

A strong performance in the quarter-final saw Larissa and Talita rewarded with a 21-16, 21-18 win over Germany’s Julia Sude and Chantal Laboureur.

It set up an all-Brazilian last four encounter with Agatha Bednarczuk, a world champion in 2015, and Eduarda Santos Lisboa.

Larissa and Talita were forced to battle throughout the match, but they eventually sealed a 21-19 and 24–22 victory.

They will now face Canada’s Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredes in the gold medal match tomorrow.

The Canadian duo emerged as 21-13, 19-21, 16-14 winners against the United States’ Kerri Walsh Jennings and Nicole Branagh in their semi-final match.

The American pairing of John Hyden and Ryan Doherty triumphed in the the first men’s semi-final.

They secured a 21-18, 21-15 win over Mexico’s Lombardo Ontiveros and Juan Virgen.

Hyden and Doherty will face Markus Böckermann and Lars Flüggen of Germany, after they beat Latvia’s Martins Plavins and Haralds Regza 21-14, 21-13 in the second semi-final.

The World Tour event is taking place a week before the FIVB World Beach Championships in Austria.

Competition in Vienna is due to be held from July 28 until August 6.
