P.V Sindhu will be aiming to win consecutive titles at this week's Badminton World Federation (BWF) Malaysia Super Series tournament, which gets underway at Stadium Perpaduan in Kuching tomorrow.

The Indian partially avenged her defeat to Carolina Marin in last year's Olympic final as she won her home India Super Series title in New Delhi yesterday.

The 21-year-old, who became an instant hero in her native country after she claimed the silver medal despite her loss to Marin at Rio 2016, produced a superb display on her way to recording a 21-19, 21-16 victory.

She will face China's Chen Yufei in round one in Malaysia

Marin will be hoping to go one further than New Delhi with the Spaniard seeded second in Kuching.

She is due to play Hong Kong's Yip Pui Yin in the first round.

Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei is the tournament's top seed and will face Liang Xiaoyu of Singapore for a place in round two.

The tournament's defending champion, Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand, is seeded seventh and is set to play Sayaka Sato of Japan in round one.

Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, the world number one, is the top seed in the men's singles competition at his home event.

The defending champion and three-time Olympic silver medallist will play Rajiv Ouseph of England in his opening encounter.

Rio 2016 champion Chen Long is seeded third in Malaysia.

The Chinese player who overcame Lee in the final in the Brazilian city will take on Wei Nan of Hong Kong in the opening round.

Denmark's Viktor Axelsen, seeded fourth, arrives in good form following his victory in New Delhi.

The Dane will come up against an unknown qualifier in round one while his compatriot, Jan Østergaard Jørgensen, is the second seed.

He will play Jonatan Christie of Indonesia in the first round.

Action is due to begin tomorrow with the tournament running until Sunday (April 9).
