Germany's Richard Freitag led men's qualification at the International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup event in Wisla, Poland today.

Freitag, part of the German team which won mixed normal hill gold at the 2015 World Championships in Falun, soared to a distance of 133 metres in his men's qualification jump on the large hill in the Polish resort.

Norway's Andreas Stjernen managed the same distance but, when the wind was taken to account, scored a lower points total.

He managed 125.83 to qualify second for tomorrow's final behind Freitag's haul of 129.32.

Jernej Damjan of Slovenia leapt 132.5 for third place on a score of 125.44.

Yuka Seto excelled on home snow at the FIS Women's World Cup event in Sapporo.

Her leap of 89.5m was enough for a leading points total of 102.1.

Evelyn Insam of Italy scored 102.1 after jumping exactly 89m.

Nita Englund of the United States was third with 101.8 points and a score of 87m.

Finals are also scheduled to take place tomorrow in the Japanese resort.
