The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) will once again be holding its Bike for Kids cycling event at the famous Angkor Wat temples.

Taking place on December 3, the purpose of the event is to raise money for women and children.

Some of the cash garnered will be used to help youngsters with parents living in prison, with a share also going towards 100 bikes to give to poor students in the Siem Reap and Takeo provinces.

The NOCC has helped to run the event for ten years.

Last year, 800 riders took part from 32 countries, with 900 cyclists expected this time around.

"This cycling event is not thinking about the rank and provides an opportunity to riders around the world," said Vath Chamroeun, the secretary general of the NOCC who was speaking at a launch press conference.

Angkor Wat is one of the world's most recognisable landmarks, and is considered as the largest religious monument anywhere on Earth.

The temple complex is relocated close to the city of Siem Reap.
