Valegro, the triple Olympic gold medal-winner, will officially be retired from all competition at Olympia on December 14.

An official retirement ceremony for Valegro will take place after the conclusion of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) World Cup Dressage Freestyle competition due to be held in London.

Valegro has been an integral part of Great Britain's success at recent Olympic Games.

Charlotte Dujardin was riding Valegro as she won four Olympic medals, including three golds, across the Rio 2016 and London 2012 Olympic Games.

Dujardin won the individual dressage competition in Brazil to retain the title she won four years earlier in London.

She also won a silver in the team dressage event, aboard Valegro, after the Great British team failed to repeat the gold medal they won in that event four years earlier.

“Valegro is a once in a lifetime horse and owes us nothing," said Dujardin.

"I can’t wait to take him to Olympia and give him the send-off he deserves.”

Dujardin's partnership with Valegro has also seen her win two World Equestrian Games gold medals and three gold medals at various European Dressage Championships.

“Valegro has done it all and we want him to go out in style," said another Great Britain Equestrian athlete Carl Hester.

"What better place than at Olympia, he loves the arena and being so close to the crowd.

"It is where he and Charlotte broke the world record in 2014 and it is the perfect place for our loyal British fans to say their farewell.”

The world’s top competitors will be in attendance at Olympia as it hosts three FEI World Cup competitions in carriage driving, dressage and jumping taking place between December 13 to 14.
