Sara Takanashi continued her domination of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Summer Grand Prix circuit with another impressive victory at the Russian-leg in Chaikovsky.

This secured her a fifth successive overall win.

Taking place in Russia despite the IOC recommendation for winter sporting events not to be held there following allegations of state-sponsored doping, the competition will be followed by another at the same venue tomorrow.

Takanashi will start as a huge favourite once again, after jumping seven metres further than the rest of the field in the first round.

Norway's Marein Lundby did fight back with the best leap of 103m in the final round to finish within 6.8 points of the dominant Japanese star.

But Takanashi's jump of 106.5m was the best of the competition and saw her triumph overall with 256.9 points.

Lundby is now desperate to secure a rare victory over her great rival tomorrow.

"I have been jumping on a good level all summer and I'm happy that I was able to show it in the competition," she said.

"Today I was better than Sara in the trial round and in the final.

"I will try everything I can to win here tomorrow."

Takanashi, however, claims to be more bothered about preparing for the upcoming winter season.

"Actually the summer isn't that very important for me, I focus on the winter and especially the World Ski Championships [in Lahti, Finland], that's my goal", she said.

Mata Vtic of Slovenia finished in third place on the day.

The second competition in Chaikovsky is due to take place at 6pm local time tomorrow.
