International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup overall champion Sara Takanashi maintained her dominance of the sport as she added Grand Prix gold to her growing collection with victory in Courchevel in France.

The 19-year-old Japanese sensation produced another superb display as she recorded the highest-scoring jumps in both rounds on her way to a commanding total of 237.4 points at the event, the first competitive outing in the summer season.

Takanashi, who has emerged as an early favourite for the Olympic title at Pyeongchang 2018, leapt 99.5 metres and 90m to top the podium ahead of Austria's Chiara Hoelzl.

The Austrian managed efforts of 92.5m and 88.5m, earning her 208.6 points, while Takanashi's teammate Yuki Ito secured third place with jumps of 86.5m and 91.5m giving her 204.7 points.

“It was a good start of my summer season,” Takanashi said.

“We will have some competitions in Japan and so I want to prepare myself for these events now.”

In the men’s competition, Poland sealed a one-two as Maciej Kot pipped team-mate and double Olympic champion Kamil Stoch to the title, marking the perfect start for new head coach Stefan Horngacher.

Kot, a World Championships bronze medallist in 2013, jumped 129.5m and 126.5m for a score of 275.1 points, with Stoch a close second on 270.1 points.

The 2013 world champion leapt 128.5m and 128m to secure silver ahead of Stefan Kraft of Austria, whose efforts of 129m and 130m saw him score 267.9 points.

“We trained very well with our new coach,” Kot said.

“I'm totally satisfied and happy about today's result and I also have a lot of self-confidence.

“Of course I'm more than happy that the two difficult years are over for me now."

The FIS Grand Prix series now moves to Wisla in Poland, with the next event scheduled for July 22 and 23.
