Home favourite Alina Gridneva held off a challenge from Kazakhstan’s Zhanbota Aldabergenova to claim victory at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Freestyle Aerials World Cup in Moscow.

The Russian scored 77.43 points for a back lay-full, bettering Aldabergenova’s performance by 1.52 and that of the United States’ Madison Olsen by 1.74.

In the men’s event, American Mac Bohonnon came out on top with a back double full-full-full jump for 124.43 points.

His team-mate Jonathon Lillis was second on 116.37 points, while Russia’s Ilya Burov finished third on 115.84 in front of a home crowd.

Bohonnon’s victory came despite him experiencing a slow start, edging through the first round as the 10th of 12 qualifiers.
