Venue packages for the POM Racquet Club and Caritas Technical Secondary School are close to selling out with less than a month to go until the Pacific Games get underway in Port Moresby, organisers have announced.

POM Racquet Club in East Boroko will stage tennis and squash events, while table tennis, bodybuilding and boxing competitions will be held at Caritas Technical Secondary School.

Meanwhile, shooting is also nearing a sell-out, inclusive of sports packages and daily tickets, despite being relatively unknown in the host country.

Peter Stewart, Port Moresby 2015 chief executive, has thanked all those who have bought tickets for the Games and assured them of an experience they will never forget.

He also encouraged those who have yet to purchase any to get to their nearest outlets, with some daily tickets still available for the aforementioned sports.

The positive news on ticket sales follows that of last month, when it was announced that the swimming events had completely sold out.

As many as 3,000 athletes from 21 nations are set to compete across 28 different sports at the Pacific Games, which are due to take place from July 4 to 18.

Papua New Guinea has targeted winning more than 120 gold medals at the Games.

That was the number racked up by the hosts of the previous edition, New Caledonia, four years ago.
