Hua Wilfried Koffi won a home athletics gold for the Ivory Coast as the Francophone Games continued in Abidjan. 

The 29-year-old triumphed in the 200 metres at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny.

Koffi, the 2015 Univerisade champion who also boasts two African titles and two All-African Games gold medals, won in 20.73sec.

He beat compatriot Arthur Cisse who won silver in 20.93 and bronze medallist Bastien Mouthon of Switzerland who was timed at 21.20.

In the women's race, Natacha Ngoye Akamabi of the Republic of Congo won gold.

Her time of 23.69 beat Swiss runner Sarah Atcho into second place as she clocked 24.14.

Naomi Van den Broeck, representing the French Community of Belgium, was third in 24.24.

There was a 1-2 for Morocco in the men's 5,000m as Youness Essalhi led home Soufiyan Bouqantar.

Essalhi finished in 14:11.60 with Bouqantar timed at 14:11.62 to finish narrowly behind.

Bronze went to Hiss Bachir Youssouf of Djibouti who crossed in 14:11.98.

Race walking golds were also awarded in men's and women's 20 kilometre events.

France's Antonin Boyez won men's gold, clocking 1:30:44 for victory.

Silver went to Romania's Andrei Gafita in 1:35:12 and bronze went to Jerome Caprice of Mauritius in 1:39:06.

The French claimed both of the top two sports in the women's race, as Marine Quennehen won in 1:45:35.

Her compatriot Amandine Marcou was timed at 1:50:30 for silver.

Mihaela Puscasu of Romanian won bronze in 1:53:45.
