Olympic bronze medallist Bianca Walkden and team-mate Lauren Williams both struck gold on day two of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) President's Cup in Athens.

The British duo were in fine form at the Ano Liosia Olympic Indoor Hall to continue their country's successful start to the event after Olympic hero Jade Jones topped the podium yesterday.

Walkden, the current world and European champion, claimed the women's over 73 kilogram title by beating world number eight Aleksandra Kowalczuk of Poland in the final.

Anne-Caroline Graffe of France, silver medallist at London 2012, and Simon Alamao Rosanna each took home a bronze medal.

"I am really happy I won," said Walkden.

"It was a mental roller coaster for me today and I had to stay strong after feeling pretty emotional during the earlier rounds.

"Halfway through the competition I felt like crying but I stayed tough and produced my best.

"I know I am going in the right direction for the World Championships and I feel strong and I will work on the small percentages to get my second World Championship gold medal."

Her compatriot Williams picked up the second gold medal of the day for Britain when she overcame Johansson Elin of Sweden in the final of the under 67kg division.

Bronze medals went to Nur Tatar of Turkey and Azerbaijani athlete Puebla Azizova Farida.

Azerbaijan did manage to clinch gold on the second day of the event in the Greek capital, which hosted the 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Games, thanks to Beigi Harchegani Milad's triumph in the men's under 80kg category.

Milad ousted Yunus Sari of Turkey to take the President's Cup crown, with Aaron Cook of Moldova and Norwegian taekwondo player Asp John each earning bronze.

European champion Larin Vladislav of Russia added another gold medal to his collection as he proved too strong for Ros Gamez Daniel of Spain in an intense men's under 87kg final.

Bachmann Alexander and Yuksel Serdar of German and Turkey respectively rounded off the podium by finishing third.

The event continues tomorrow.
