Canada's Mikael Kingsbury will seek to continue his superb International Ski Federation (FIS) Moguls World Cup form with victory at this season's penultimate leg in the Japanese resort Tazawako.

Action will begin tomorrow in what promises to be a top weekend of Japanese winter sport as the opening of the Asian Winter Games in Sapporo takes place on Sunday (February 19).

Kingsbury, who won the duals event in Tazawako in 2016, is already a runaway leader in this season's World Cup standings.

His haul of 620 points sees him over 200 clear of Ben Cavet of France, who lies on 372.

It means Kingsbury is already virtually guaranteed a sixth successive overall World Cup crown, although he will be keen to cement his dominance this weekend.

Britt Cox of Australia will be looking for a similar show of strength in the women's competition.

She currently lies on 605 points to comfortably lead Kingsbury's fellow Canadian Justine Dufour-Lapointe by 171 points.

Both Cox and Kingsbury triumphed at the Pyeongchang 2018 test event in Phoenix Park last week.

Single moguls competition in Tazawako gets underway tomorrow with with qualification and finals.

Dual moguls events are then scheduled for Sunday.
