Hagen Kearney will be the centre of attention when the International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard Cross World Cup season resumes tomorrow in Solitude.

The ski resort, which will host snowboard cross and ski cross events during the 2019 Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships, is located in Utah, the home state of Park City resident Kearney.

Kearney will head into the event fresh off the back of winning the men’s competition at the World Cup opener in Montafon, Austria.

He will hope his form from the event in December carries over to the second leg of the season, where he is sure to be backed by strong home support.

The American can expect to face competition from Sochi 2014 Olympic gold medallist Pierre Vaultier and Italy’s world champion Luca Matteotti.

Four-time world champion Lindsey Jacobellis headlines the women’s field, with the American finishing third at the Montafon season opener.

Sochi 2014 champion Eva Samkova of the Czech Republic and Italy’s Michela Moioli will provide a threat, with the latter seeking to kick-start the defence of her World Cup crown.

Solitude is debuting as a World Cup host, with the event beginning tomorrow and continuing until Sunday (January 22).

Individual competitions will take place on the opening days of the World Cup, with team competition held on the final day.
