The city of Šiauliai played host to the country’s celebration of Olympic Day , together with the 100th anniversary of the Lithuanian Olympic Movement, last Saturday in a festival with more than a hundred different sports and entertainment activities. 20,000 people are estimated to have attended the day-long event for a chance try out various sports, chat with professional athletes, meet national Olympians, engage in games and tournaments, and join educational and Olympic educational events.

Utah’s bid to bring the Winter Olympics back to Salt Lake City takes another step forward, as the Salt Lake City-Utah Committee for the Games released its budget on Monday to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as part of their response to the Future Host Questionnaire. The organisers projected that hosting the 2034 Winter Games in Utah would cost nearly $4 billion (€3.7 billion), including $2.83 billion (€2.6 billion) for core operations and promised no state or local public funding will be used to fund the Games.

American golfer Lexi Thompson announced Tuesday that she will retire from the LPGA tour at the end of the 2024 season, Agence France-Presse reported yesterday evening. Thompson, 29, is an 11-time LPGA tour winner, a major champion, a two-time Olympian and a six-time US Solheim Cup team member.
