The team is relatively unchanged to that which earned silver at this year's World Championships with 15 players retaining their spot for the Games next March.

Head coach Jess Sauer, who is in his third year of leading the side, expressed his delight at the mix of experience and youth on offer in the selection.

"I am excited about this skilled group of players that we'll be taking to Sochi," he said.

"I like the chemistry that is building among them.

"We have some players with extensive Paralympic experience, in addition to younger players who can't wait to step up to the highest level of competition in our sport."

Brody Roybal will make his national debut for the side and, at the tender age of 15, becomes the youngest player on the squad.

Veteran Andy Yohe will make a return to the national team having retired from the sport following America's gold medal at Vancouver 2010.

He, along with Steve Cash, who was named best goaltender in Vancouver, Taylor Chace, who earned best defenseman at the same Games, Nikko Landeros, Josh Pauls, Taylor Lipsett, Adam Page and Greg Shaw, will all return to the Paralympics hoping to retain the title they won in Canada.

The remaining players, who were all part of the squad that missed out on gold to Canada at the World Championships, include Tyler Carron, Declan Farmer, Jen Lee, Can McCoy, Kevin McKee, Rico Roman, Paul Schaus and Josh Sweeney.

The US will go into next year's Games, scheduled for March 7 until 16, seeded second behind Canada.

They face tough opposition in the preliminary group stage having been drawn alongside hosts Russia - who are seeded third - South Korea and Italy.

The team will be looking to reassert their dominance in the event having been overthrown by Canada in both the World Championship final and the latest World Sledge Hockey Challenge final in Toronto last week.

The squad will now be subject to approval by the United States Olympic Committee before its confirmation ahead of the Games next year.
