Fedulova, already the winner of the skiathlon and freestyle sprint, breezed to a commanding success as she finished 23.6 seconds ahead of compatriot Lyubov Misharina in a time of 33min 32.5sec.

Raisa Golovina came through to clinch bronze on another superb day for the home skiers, although she was over a minute off the winning pace.

The host's dominance of the skiing events continued when Vladimir Mayorov took the men's 15km mass start honours with a time of 45:32.3, which proved enough to beat Ukrainian Andriy Andriyishyn by 4.8 seconds.

Unfortunately for Russia, they could not quite replicate the performance of the women, although Sergey Ermilov did manage to claim the bronze medal.

Elsewhere on the penultimate day of competition in the Russian resort, the Chinese men's curling team continued their impressive run of form as they sealed a narrow 5-4 win over the hosts to ensure they will get the chance to earn gold.

They will go on to face Canada in the final after they swept past Switzerland with a commanding 8-4 win to set up a tantalising ending to the curling competition.

China could possibly monopolise the curling titles as their women also made the gold medal match thanks to a 9-4 success over Canada.

In the other semi-final, Russia delighted the partisan home crowd in attendance at the Ice Palace as they thrashed Croatia 8-2.

On a packed day of action, the ice hockey tournament also threw up a tense semi-final affair as Canada squeezed through to the gold medal contest by virtue of a slender 2-1 win over Russia.

The other last four match proved to be somewhat of a non-event as Kazakhstan's miserable run of form in the competition continued after they were dismantled 11-1 by Finland.

Finland and Canada will meet for gold tomorrow while Russia and Kazakhstan compete for bronze and also on the final day, the men's and women's curling medals will be decided.

Medals are available in the men's and women's boardercross snowboarding discipline, and the skiing events draw to a close with the slalom competitions, before the Closing Ceremony brings the curtain down on this year's Deaflympics.
