london_media_centre_27-07-11July 29 - Registration to the London Media Centre (LMC), for those not accredited the Games, has opened and journalists are being urged to register before the March 31 deadline as demand is expected to be high, with the world's media vying for the chance to report on the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.

Located in the heart of London, close to the Houses of Parliament and a stone's throw from Horse Guards Parade where the beach volleyball competition will take place, the London Media Centre at One Great George Street offers live broadcasting positions, events and content, media assets, office space, edit facilities and in-house dining.

It will be open daily from July 9, 2012, to August 14 for the Olympic Games, before reopening from August 27 until September 11 for the Paralympics.

As part of the registration, the London Media Centre pass acts as a Games-related filming permit for broadcasters during the Olympic and Paralympic period across key areas of the capital, as well as in other areas of the UK that are hosting events, such as Weymouth and Portland - the venue for the 2012 sailing competition.

Signing up to the London Media Centre also gives unique access to an official events programme, which will include exclusive media briefings, press conferences, bespoke hospitality events and interviews with VIP spokespeople, while registered photographers and broadcast teams will be able to book a range of fibred broadcast positions and access additional stand up positions.

Ultimately, the range of media positions will allow broadcasters to have some of the most exclusive and iconic backdrops for their programmes.

The London Media Centre has workspace for over 250 journalists and is able to accommodate 200 members of the international media for sit-down press conferences during the Games, while its location - a five-minute walk from Westminster Tube station, which offers direct travel links to the Olympic Park - makes it easy to attend events and the Live Sites dotted around the host city.

Media who are unable to travel to London may also choose to register solely for access to London Media Centre material, and there are various options available to those either planning to cover the entire Games period or simply a few days.

Registration is not guaranteed and each entry will be evaluated individually.
