One Great George Street Conference CentreApril 4 - Rushmans have been appointed to manage the London Media Centre in Westminster and to handle accreditation for non-Olympic media personnel during the 2012 London Olympic Games.

The Greater London Authority decided to appoint Rushmans to manage, plan and fit out the Media Centre venue, which is due to be at One Great George Street Conference Centre, off Parliament Square, in conjunction with Melville Events.

They are hoping that the organisation's experience of the capital will serve to fulfil the potential for the Games to enhance London's global reputation and build its brand, as well as fuelling tourism and other investment into the city.

It will also be ensuring accreditation is given to a number of non-Olympic media personnel, such as contractors and Greater London Authority workers among others.

Nigel Rushman, the chairman of Rushmans, said:"We are delighted to have been appointed by Mayor Boris Johnson and the GLA to this pivotal role.

"Over the last 30 years, we have provided media and accreditation services at sporting and other major events worldwide, but being part of the London Olympic experience is a very special honour."

Rushmans have worked on over 500 events in 30 countries and across 50 different sports, including Qatar's successful bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2007 ICC Twenty 20 World Cup in the West Indies.

The Media Centre for London 2012 is essential to making sure that broadcasters and journalists have the equipment and support required to cover the Games, and will provide facilities overlooking a number of iconic landmarks across London.
