Dell Glasgow_2014_sponsor_announcement_with_Jak_ScottAugust 5 - Computer technology corporation Dell has signed a deal to become the latest sponsor of Glasgow 2014 where it will be charged with supplying the IT hardware for the Commonwealth Games.

The announcement means that Dell will deliver around 1,500 desktop computers, 200 laptops and 60 servers, as well as storage solutions across 40 competition and non-competition venues for the Games in two years' time.

Although Dell is an American-based company, their operations for the Commonwealth Games will be led out of their Scottish headquarters in Dennistoun in Glasgow which is a short distance away from the Athletes' Village.

"Dell's belief that technology can change the world, enabling people everywhere to grow and thrive, clearly has a strong synergy with the purpose of Glasgow 2014 – both in the delivery of world-class competitive sport," said Dell's EMEA President Aongus Hegarty,

"It will showcase and the lasting economic and social legacy it will leave."

The move comes after Dell worked as the Official Hardware Provider for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games – supplying a range of computer technology for the event.

In addition to the Official Supporter, Glasgow 2014 has two Official Partners – the highest rank within the event's commercial programme – with SSE and Longines.
