In the men's event, skip Joël Retornaz led his team to victory over Canada's Brendan Bottcher at the Gale Centre in Niagara Falls.

It is the second Grand Slam of Curling title for the Trentino-based quartet which also features Amos Mosaner, Sebastiano Arman, and Mattia Giovanella who won 4-3 in an extra end in the final.

"It's amazing, it’s unbelievable," Retornaz said.

"I never would have thought that I could win two Grand Slams.

"Two or three years ago, I never would have thought I would play in a Grand Slam.

"Winning Slams now, it's not a habit but it's what we're supposed to do and these are the kinds of games we want to play.

"We work very hard, we train a lot, we travel a lot, we take away time from our families.

"We do that to get to play finals and to win events like this.

"It's very demanding but when you win there's nothing like it in the world."

The women's tournament saw Jennifer Jones of Canada capture her 10th Grand Slam of Curling title.

Her team beat Kaitlyn Lawes' 7-4 in an all-Manitoba final.

Although it is her 10th title, the win marks her first with Winnipeg and Altona team-mates Karlee Burgess, Emily Zacharias, and Lauren Lenentine.

"It feels amazing," Jones said.

"It's been a while.

"Just to do it with the girls, they're so amazing, and to be in their first Slam final and come out with a win, that'll be something that they'll remember forever and I'm glad I could be a part of it."

Jones' side had mixed results in the round robin stage as they recorded two wins and two losses to scrape through to the knockout rounds.

She then guided her team to wins over sides headed by four-time world champion Silvana Tirinzoni of Switzerland and Sweden's Olympic gold medallist Anna Hasselborg.

The Grand Slam of Curling is set to return with the National from November 7 to 12 in Nova Scotia's Pictou County.
