Masters races came to a end at the International Canoe Federation Canoe Marathon World Championships here with success for hosts Denmark.

Christina Scales and Jeanette Knudsen overcame fellow Danes Jette Baelum and Pernille Stenum to win women’s K2 50-54 gold in 1hr 13min 49.05sec at Lake Jels in Vejen.

There was a Danish one-two-three in the women’s K2 55-59 category with Ulla Stuart and Helle Stuart triumphing in 1:17:40.33.

There was more delight for the hosts in the men’s K2 50-54 division as David Francis and Kenneth Pedersen claimed gold in 1:20:59.74.

The mixed K2 over-65 crown was secured by Denmark’s Michael Thers and Anette Henckel who crossed in 1:11:50.37.

Colin Simpkins and Chris Visser of South Africa were crowned men’s K2 65-69 champions in a time of 1:08:16.84.

Norway’s Olaf Soyland and Einar Kjerschow came out on top in the men’s K2 70-74 in a time of 1:09:22.55.

The men’s K2 over-75 category was won by Denmark’s Knud Kjeldgaard and Niels Baggesen in 1:21:36.11.

Spain’s Emma Via and Kissy Torres were the only entries in the women’s K2 40-44 division, finishing in 1:15:20.47.

Anke Trilling and Susan Lutzner, who were not competing for a National Federation, topped the standings in the women’s K2 45-49 class after crossing in 1:15:26.29.

Germany’s Helga Freund and Antje Moller sealed the women’s K2 65-69 title in 1:08:07.43.

Britain’s Juan Abellanas and Edgar Boehm came out on top in the men’s K2 35-39 category after finishing first in 1:17:49.49.

Spain’s Santiago Cruz and Jesus Rodriquez enjoyed success in the men’s K2 40-44, winning in 1:17:00.01.

Ulises Aranda and Bernardo Sanchez led a Spanish clean sweep in the men’s K2 45-49 class.

Germany’s Klaus Gieres and Thomas Kittner crossed the finish line first in 1:17:55.30 to take the men’s K2 55-59 title.

Giuseppe Fuso and Francisco Vazquez, competing as neutrals, took the men’s K2 60-64 division by storm, winning in 1:21:58.87.

Poland’s Szymon Cybal and Mateusz Rynkiewicz were triumphant in the men’s C2 35-39 class after clocking 55:22.75.

Germany’s Mathias Kremer and Oliver Trilling was the lone competitors in the men’s C2 40-44 category, finishing in 55:53.97.

Julian Serrano and Enrique Miquez topped a Spanish one-two in the men’s C2 50-54, overcoming Marcelino Cacabelos and Pedro Areal with a time of 55:26.93.

Jurijs Seleznovs and Bruno Pieperbeck, who were also not representing a National Federation, clinched the men’s C2 65-69 title in 1:06:20.26.

Australia’s Laura Lee and Elliott Craig won mixed K2 35-49 gold in 1:05:48.73, while Spain’s Xabier Osa and Margarita Fernandez clocked 1:07:00.39 for the mixed K2 50-64 title.
