The 16-year-old was in remarkable form to clinch the solo win with a score of 54.932 in what was just her second senior competition overseas at the OCBC Arena.

Compatriot Zhang Qingying and South Korea's Shin Sol-yi were second and third with scores of 53.965 and 53.499 respectively.

Qiu has enjoyed a fruitful year so far as she also prevailed in the uneven bars contest at the Baku World Cup in March and is hungry for more.

"I'm still nervous, after all, this is my second competition," she said, as reported by The Straits Times.

"This time is different from the Baku World Cup - the World Cup is a single event, this is all-around, each has its own pressure, the feeling is different.

"It's my goal to be on a bigger stage, such as the World Championships and the Olympics."

Her second gold of the day came with the help of countrywomen Chen Xinyi, Jia Ruoyi, Zhang Qingying, Zhang Xinyi, and Zuo Tong.

Together they amassed 163.529 points in the team event to get the better of South Korea and Chinese Taipei.

They took second and third with respective totals of 160.095 and 147.397.

The victory is made all the more impressive for China as the country did not send its best athletes to Singapore as it has already qualified for September's World Championships.

Competition is set to continue tomorrow with the first day of the men's and women's apparatus finals.
