A total of seven countries got off to winning starts in the eFootball 2023 tournament at the International Esports Federation World Championships in Bali.

Suriname's Rejeev Wiresh Algoo eased past Ghanaian Boris Osisiada-Nimpong 2-0 in the opening Group A fixture on the Indonesian island.

In Group B, South Korea's Song Young-woo emulated his country's real life football team's success as he began his campaign with a 2-0 triumph against Sogyal Tashi Samdup of Bhutan.

Iraq's Nooruldeen Al-Daffaie and Tunisian Ayoub Wannessi also picked up respective 2-0 wins against Danamadji Seiko of Chad and Trinidadian Javon Jason Charles in Group C

In the final fixtures of the day, Thailand's Pongsaton Suton snuck past Bosnian Aldin Hamidović 2-1 in Group D before Jose Carlos Sánchez Guillén downed Muhammad Abdul Qawiy Wafiyuddin bin Haji Zulaihee of Brunei.

In the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang competition, Cambodia swept past Namibia 2-0 to advance to the second round where they will face the Malaysian outfit who won by the same score line against Vietnam.

Further down the bracket, Argentina progressed following a 2-0 win against Slovenia and will face either Indonesia or the Philippines in the next round which is set to take place tomorrow.

Also taking place tomorrow is the remaining round one fixture between Namibia and Vietnam.
