Argentina, Peru, Brazil and Mexico earned places at next month's 14th World Esports Championships in Bali, after topping the podiums at the International Esports Federation (IESF) Panam Open in Buenos Aires.

The three-day event in the Argentinian capital featured 10 IESF member federations from the Pan American region competing for a total prize pool of $250,000 (£220,000/€250,500).

The inaugural Panam Open featured six game titles - CS:GO and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, both won by Argentina; Dota 2 and Tekken 7, both won by Peru; PUBG Mobile, won by Brazil, and eFootball™️, won by Mexico.

Online preliminary qualifiers were held to determine the champions of four zones - North America, North Latin America, South Latin America and Brazil - who then faced off at the Centro Costa Salguero in Buenos Aires, as part of the Argentina Game Show 2022.

This event saw over 100 thousand attendees over the course of three days.

The eighth edition of the Game Show was Argentina's largest gamer event yet.

The world's best esports players will now face off at the 2022 World Esports Championships Finals, scheduled to take place in Bali from December 1 to 12.

As the largest edition of the event to date, the Finals will feature a record $500,000 (£439,000/€501,000) prize pool and will involve athletes from 120 nations.

IESF President Vlad Marinescu said: "The inaugural Panam Open was an amazing event that brought together the Pan American Esports Family in Buenos Aires.

"IESF is proud to be growing esports in the region and providing athletes with competitive opportunities to showcase their full potential on the world stage.

"We look forward to seeing Argentina, Peru, Brazil and Mexico at the WE Championships Finals."

Pan-American Esports competitions co-ordinator Nicolas Crespo added: "It was a pleasure hosting this event with IESF.

"It brought the whole esports family together, and the fans contributed to an unforgettable experience and atmosphere.

"Huge congratulations to all the winning teams, and we can not wait to see them showcase their talents and skills in Bali."
