The International Esports Federation (IESF) has entered a Memorandum of Understanding with artificial intelligence (AI) translation platform Anychat.

The partnership aims to help the IESF overcome language barriers and promote an inclusive environment for its competitions, with the Anychat forum providing a means for conversation to be converted in real-time using AI.

It was welcomed by IESF President Vlad Marinescu.

"IESF is home to the world esports family and is committed to giving everyone a voice and a chance to freely communicate," he said.

"Working together with Anychat will allow us to make significant progress in global communications with the esports ecosystem.

"We are looking forward to our partnership and friendship with Anychat and establishing a larger network involving the broader esports industry."

The IESF features 129 National Federations, and a record 120 countries are due to be represented at the World Esports Championships Finals in Bali, scheduled for December 1 to 12.

Anychat is set to be used to assist with communication at this flagship event.

The IESF was founded in 2008, and is one of two organisations claiming to be esports’ international governing body.

The International Olympic Committee has said it does not plan to recognise the IESF or Global Esports Federation as world governing body for esports, but voted to push for closer ties with virtual sport last year through the creation of the Olympic Virtual Series.

President Thomas Bach has insisted that games where "violence is glorified or accepted" will not be welcome.

The IOC's Esports and Gaming Liaison Group is chaired by David Lappartient, President of the International Cycling Union.

Vincent Pereira, head of virtual sport and gaming at the IOC, has been among the speakers at the IESF's World Esports Summit in Busan.
