Santiago 2023 has formed a partnership with Mediapro and the Santo Tomás Professional Institute that will see the latter's students trained by the broadcaster of the Games.

The agreement is hoped to develop the upcoming Pan American and Parapan American Games legacy on a social level.

A signing ceremony took place at the San Joaquín headquarters of the Santo Tomás Professional Institute and was attended by Santiago 2023 executive director Gianna Cunazza, and representatives of Mediapro, Panam Sports and the university.

As a result of the collaboration, approximately 100 students will be formally hired by Mediapro, through its broadcast school.

It will start with courses in March and April of 2023 and will accept students from Talca, Concepción and Santiago.

"For us it is very important, because in addition to everything that is the preparations for the Games, it is an opportunity to detect local talent and leave a legacy," said Gustavo Fonseca, content director of Mediapro.

"There are people who are eager to participate because sometimes these events are closed and this is an opportunity to open the door to young people who want to participate in the Games."

The Santiago 2023 Organising Committee enlisted Mediapro as the event's broadcaster in February of this year, with the service costing $11.8 million (£10.2 million/€10.1 million).

For the first time in the Games' history, all sports will be transmitted live for a grand total of 1,900 live hours - which is 700 more than at Lima 2019.

"It is a unique opportunity for our students," said Darío Cuesta, national director of the Santo Tomás Professional Institute.

"We risk it entirely, we believe in social transformation, in sport as an engine of change and we believe that for our audio visuals and sound engineers it is an opportunity that can change their lives both professionally and individually".
