Argentina secured the 2022 AmeriCup title in the final seconds of the game, beating hosts Brazil through a two-point shot from Gabriel Deck to separate the teams.

It was their third title in tournament history, denying their South American rivals their fifth gold medal with the score finishing 75-73.

Argentina were the leaders for the vast majority of the match, having taken a 12-point lead into the second quarter, with that only being cut by two going into the half.

Brazil pulled back three more points going into the last quarter in Recife, reducing the deficit to seven with the score sitting at 67-60 in favour of the Argentines.

Yet, Brazil managed to pull level to 67-67, with Argentina only going back in front after a timeout.

Brazil responded with a three-pointer from Lucas Dias to put them in the lead.

Both teams traded the lead and it finally came level at 73-73 when Marcos Delia successfully netted a dunk for Argentina.

Argentina then scored the winning shot when Nicolás Laprovittola assisted Deck for a layup, 17 seconds from the end.

Brazil aimed to steal it, but Lucas Dias missed a three-point jump shot, four seconds from time.

A brilliant second-half saw the United States claim bronze by beating Canada 84-80.

The Americans were seven points down at half-time, but outscored their opponents in the third quarter by four points.

In a final quarter that saw 53 points scored, Gary Clark helped the US score seven more than the Canadians to give them the victory.
