The Nordic countries have dominated the International Federation of Sleddog Sports (IFSS) On-Snow World Championships in Hamar.

The competition opened with the men’s two-dog skijoring being won by Finland’s Vesa-Pekka Juvelin on 26 minutes and 34.4 seconds, and Czechs Pavel Pischet and Ondreij Exler timing six secs and 15.1 secs slower.

In the two-dog skijoring women, Mirelle Andersson of Sweden triumphed, securing a time of 26:06.7.

Agnieszka Jarecka of Poland finished second with a time of 26:14.5 and Jessica Häggqvist of Sweden closing the race on 26:16.5.

Meanwhile, in the two-dog sprint, the medals were shared between Norweigan Viktor Sinding, taking gold on 25:33.0, Czech Hana Štipalová, securing silver exactly four seconds behind, and Marie Ševelová settling for bronze on 26:19.0.

Finland’s Pekka Niemi won gold in the men’s one-dog sprint with a time of 27 minutes and 3.9 seconds.

In second was Czech republic’s Ondej Exler, who timed just 2.1 behind his opponent, and Norway’s Trond Are Hoel secured bronze after being 12.9 seconds slower than Niemi.

In the women’s one-dog sprint, Jessica Häggqvist was the fastest time of 17:30.6 - 10.5 seconds faster than Czech Jana Drasloarová and 14 secs faster than Czech Martina Štepánková.

Czech Aneta Erlebachová stormed the junior women one-dog sprint, timing at 18:15.5 which was 34.1 secs and 2:03.5 quicker than Norwegians Vilma Halastenstad Stovner and Mari Korsvold respectively.

Slovakia’s Andrej Drabik managed to top the four-dog standings with a time of 29:51.0 - exactly ten seconds ahead of Lithuania’s Indre Daujotiene and exactly 23 seconds in front of Czech Republic’s Jiri Suchý.

Norwegian Trond Are Hoel finished first on 29:16.4 in the combined men’s, exactly one second ahead of compatriot Victor Sinding-Larsen and 2.5 seconds beyond Finland’s Vesa-Pekka Jurvelin.

The women's combined saw Norway take another gold with Marte Eirin Solhaug finishing on 29:17.0 and - four tenths of a second in front of Häggqvist and five tenths of a second quicker than Andersson.

Czech Republic did receive a gold in the combined women’s junior as Aneta Erlebachová timed at 21:14.7.

This was comfortably faster than the Norweigan duo in second and third, with Tora Bøckman timing at 21:39.0 and Mina Haammer Flathagen scoring 21:44.0.

The 6-dog mid-distance saw Spain’s Iker Ozkoidi triumph as France’s Aurélie Delattre won silver and Norway’s Hans Lindahl took bronze.

The unlimited sprint ended with Norway dominating the podium - Hege Ingerbrigtsen in first, Kjetil Hillestad in second and Rune Haugmo in third.
