Three rounds of qualifying have been completed at the World Table Tennis Star Contender Doha prior to the first round tomorrow at the Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar.

In the men's singles, South Korea's Cho Seung-min defeated compatriot Jang Seong-il 11-3, 11-5, 11-7, while Japan's Shunsuke Togami beat his team mate Yuto Kizukuri 11-8, 11-9, 9-11, 11-6.

Can Akkuzu defeated Abdel-Kader Salifou in an all-French match 7-11, 11-5, 11-5, 11-7, and Ricardo Walther of Germany won 11-7, 7-11. 11-8, 11-8 against Hong Kong's Ho Kwan Kit.

Benedek Olah of Finland defeated Iran's Amir Hossein Hodaei 11-7, 11-6, 11-9, and Portugal's Joao Geraldo won 11-6, 11-6, 4-11, 11-9 against Chinese Taipei's Liao Cheng-Ting.

In the last qualifying rounds, Eric Jouti of Brazil came from two games down to defeat Bastien Rembert of France 4-11, 7-11, 11-5, 11-8, 12-10, and Hong Kong's Lam Siu Hang won a five-game thriller against Alexandre Cassin of France 5-11, 11-7, 11-6, 7-11, 12-10.

Li Yu-Jhun of Chinese Taipei won in straight games in the women's singles against Iran's Melika Karimi, and Pauline Chasselin of France defeated Singapore's Zhang Wanling 11-5, 9-11, 11-8, 12-10.

In an all-Slovenian match, Katarina Strazar won in five games against Ana Tofant 11-9, 5-11, 12-10, 9-11, 11-9, while Singapore's Zhou Jingyi defeated compatriot Wong Xin Ru 8-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-7.


Ukraine's Solomiya Brateyko won 11-5, 7-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-9 in her match with Prithika Pavade of France, and Neda Shahsavari of Iran defeated Reeth Tennison of India 11-4, 11-8, 11-6.

Slovakia's Ema Labosova won 12-10, 12-10, 8-11, 11-6 against Singapore's Goi Rui Xuan, and Huang Yu-Wen of Chinese Taipei won 11-7, 11-5, 11-4 against Iran's Mahshid Ashtari.

In the three women's doubles qualifying matches, two Iranian and one Singapore pair progressed.

Maryam Farei and Shima Safaei of Iran defeated Slovenians Tofat and Strazar 11-6, 11-6, 15-13, and their compatriots Shahsavari and Ashtari won 11-7, 11-4, 11-2 over Qatar's Ala Mohamed and Maha Faramarzi.

Singapore's Wong Xin Ru and Goi Rui Xuan smashed Maha Ali and Maryam Ali of Qatar 11-3, 11-6, 11-7.

Finally, in the men's doubles, Germany's Ricardo Walther and Fanbo Meng defeated Brazil's Eric Jouti and Vitor Ishiy 5-11, 11-5, 12-10, 5-11, 11-7 to make the first round, and South Koreans Cho Seung-min and An Jae-hyun join them following their 11-7, 11-5, 9-11, 11-8 victory over Feng Yi-Hsin and Huang Yan-Cheng of Chinese Taipei.

Japan's Kazuhiro Yoshimura and Yuto Kizukuri won in five games 11-6, 6-11, 11-6, 4-11, 11-7 against Zhe Yu Clarence Chew and Kun Ting Beh of Singapore, and Belgium's Cedric Nuytinck and Slovenia's Bojan Tokic won 11-4, 11-8, 11-3 against Can Akkuzu and Alexandre Cassin of France to take the final first round spot.
