Malaysian athletes are to be kitted out by Yonex for another Olympic cycle after the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) signed a new partnership with the manufacturer which will run until the end of 2024.

It will be the third Olympic cycle in a row where Yonex is an official OCM supplier.

The new deal will formally start with the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Vietnam, which are currently scheduled to begin in November, and be crowned by the Paris 2024 Olympics.

"It gives us great pride to partner with Yonex-Sunrise for the upcoming four years," OCM secretary general Dato' Nazifuddin Najib said.

"They have been kitting our athletes and officials at the multi-sports Games for the last two Olympic cycles and we look forward to working with them at the upcoming Games."

The deal was announced following an Executive Board meeting where the OCM also decided its flagbearers for the Tokyo 2020 Opening Ceremony.

Badminton player Goh Liu Ying and archer Khairul Anuar Mohamad have been chosen, with countries able to nominate one man and one woman for the first time at the Games in the Japanese capital.

Goh won a silver medal in the mixed doubles at Rio 2016, and is also a former Commonwealth Games and SEA Games champion.

Mohamad won a silver medal in the men's recurve at the 2019 World Archery Championships in 's-Hertogenbosch.

Malaysia has won 11 Olympic medals to date, but is still waiting for its first gold.
