Tiril Eckhoff earned victory in the women's sprint as Norway enjoyed their second clean sweep in as many days at the International Biathlon Union World Cup in Hochfilzen.

Eckhoff, a former world sprint champion, completed the 7.5 kilometres course in 19min 38sec to record her second win of the season.

The 30-year-old finished in front of team mates Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold and overall World Cup leader Marte Olsbu Røiseland.

Despite shooting clean, Tandrevold was second, 7.6 adrift of Eckhoff, with Røiseland a further 17 seconds back in third.

Røiseland remains in pole position on the overall leaderboard after claiming bronze at the Austrian venue and is 22 points clear of Sweden's Hanna Öberg in second.

Eckhoff said she was "proud" of the Norwegian team for another podium sweep and set her sights on an improved performance in the 10km pursuit tomorrow.

"I was just saying to the girls, I think it is so much fun that we just pumped it up and did just like the boys," she said.

"I am really proud of our team today; it is incredible and I never experienced it or saw it on television.

"I have struggled a lot with my prone shooting this year.

"I am very satisfied that I only had one mistake.

"I was just doing it the casual way; I shot really fast in standing. I am very happy with my skiing and everything today.

"I hope I do a better pursuit than last week."

The men's pursuit, held over 12.5km, is due to take place when the event continues tomorrow.
