Russia continued their strong start to the International Swimming Federation World Youth Artistic Swimming Championships in Samorin, by taking first place in the duet and free combination preliminary standings.

Violetta Evenko and Diana Mirgazizova led the way in the duet with 86.1000 points at the Slovakian town's X-Bionic Sphere Sport Complex.

Ukraine's Sofiia Sereda and Anastasiia Soldatenkova finished second with 83.8332 points, while Italy's Vittoria Meucci and Susanna Pedotti came third with 80.0668.

In the free combination preliminaries, Russia prevailed with 87.6000 points.

Ukraine and Spain completed the top three with point totals of 85.9332 and 83.6668, respectively.

Action in Samorin continues tomorrow with a figure session competition.

The first medals will be awarded in the solo, mixed duet and free combination on Saturday (August 31), before the duet and team finals close the event on Sunday (September 1).
